Our Editorial Mission
EOFE Business Champions exists to publish genuinely useful, rigorously researched content for UK SME founders, operators and business professionals. We define "genuinely useful" as content that gives readers specific, actionable knowledge they can apply directly to their business — not generalised observations or theoretical frameworks that require expert interpretation to be practical.
We measure the success of our editorial output by reader outcomes, not traffic metrics. Our subscriber feedback consistently informs our content decisions. Where we identify topics on which we cannot add meaningful value beyond what is already freely and accurately available, we do not publish.
Editorial Independence
The editorial team at EOFE Business Champions operates with full independence from commercial functions. Specifically:
Advertisers and commercial partners have no influence over editorial coverage. They cannot request coverage of specific topics, products or services. They cannot request that negative coverage be omitted or softened. They cannot review editorial content before publication. Any attempt by a commercial partner to influence editorial decisions is grounds for termination of the commercial relationship.
Affiliate relationships do not determine content recommendations. When we review or recommend tools, software or services in connection with which we have an affiliate relationship, the recommendation is based solely on editorial assessment. We do not recommend products we would not recommend if no affiliate relationship existed. We clearly disclose all affiliate relationships in accordance with our Advertising Disclosure Policy.
Sponsored content is clearly labelled. Any content that has been produced with financial support or editorial involvement from a commercial partner is clearly labelled "Sponsored Content" or "Paid Partnership" at the top of the article and in any listing or preview. Sponsored content is subject to the same factual accuracy standards as editorial content but is not subject to our editorial independence requirement — the commercial partner's perspective may be represented. Readers should apply appropriate judgement when reading sponsored content.
Research and Sourcing Standards
We require all claims in our editorial content to be supported by one or more of the following: published research from credible academic or professional institutions; data from government or regulatory bodies (ONS, Companies House, FCA, HMRC, etc.); verified industry research from recognised providers; direct interviews with named or anonymised sources with verifiable expertise; or our editorial team's independently verifiable analysis.
We do not publish unverified statistics, claims from press releases without independent corroboration, or projections presented as established fact. Where data is contested or where sources conflict, we represent the range of evidence rather than selectively citing the most compelling figure.
We disclose the sources and publication dates of research we cite. Where research is more than three years old and the field is fast-moving, we note this limitation.
Corrections Policy
We correct factual errors promptly. Corrections are noted at the top of the affected article with the date of correction and a brief description of what was changed. We do not delete articles to remove errors — we correct them transparently. We do not alter the substantive content of articles to reflect commercial relationships after publication.
To report a factual error, contact [email protected] with the article title, the specific claim you believe to be inaccurate, and the evidence or source you are relying on.
Author Standards
All bylined content is written by members of our editorial team or external contributors with verifiable professional expertise in the subject matter. We do not publish content under false or generic bylines. Where a contributor has a material financial interest in a topic they are writing about (for example, a consultant writing about a practice area in which they provide commercial services), this must be disclosed in or near the article.
Contributor bios are accurate and do not overstate qualifications, positions or professional history.
Use of AI Writing Tools
Members of our editorial team may use AI writing assistance tools as part of their drafting process. All content published on this site is reviewed, edited, fact-checked and approved by a human editor before publication. We do not publish unreviewed AI-generated content. The editorial voice and substantive judgements in our content are those of our human editorial team.
Founder Stories and Case Studies
Our Founder Stories content presents realistic composite case studies based on our editorial team's research, reader interviews, and publicly available information about sectors and business models. Individuals and businesses are presented as illustrative examples rather than verified named subjects, unless specifically noted as a direct interview. Financial figures are illustrative and drawn from published sector benchmarks. See the editorial note on our Founder Stories page for full detail.
Reader Submissions and Feedback
We welcome reader feedback, topic suggestions, and corrections at [email protected]. We read all substantive correspondence. We cannot guarantee individual responses to all submissions, but all feedback contributes to our editorial planning.
